Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Trying to find out where the thermostat is
on my 01 Durango 5.9. When Ichanged my
radiator I noticed a rusted coiled wire in the
hose next to the a/c compressor.
Wondering if that was it or no?

Its on the upper radiator hose, follow the hose coming from your radiator where the hose ends there is a plastic housing with 2 bolts. The thermostat is found under that. Remove the 2 bolts and replace the thermostat. The coil in the hose is just in there for support during engine flex. INSTALLATION (1) Clean mating areas of intake manifold and thermostat housing. (2) Install thermostat (spring side down) into recessed machined groove on intake manifold (3) Install gasket on intake manifold and over thermostat. (4) Position thermostat housing to intake manifold. Note the word FRONT stamped on housing if applicable. For adequate clearance, this must be placed towards front of vehicle. The housing is slightly angled forward after installation to intake manifold. (5) Install two housing-to-intake manifold bolts. Tighten bolts to 23 N·m (200 in. lbs.) torque. (6) Install radiator upper hose to thermostat housing.
