Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2001 Sebring with 178,000 miles on it. Do I have a timing belt that has to be changed. Or can I leave it alone?????

The 2.7 has a chain. As for replacing it, tough question. That is a lot of miles and they seldom break but can stretch. Hopefully we will get another opinion.

Change it asap. You are almost twice the recommended interval, do the water pump at the same time. Congratulations, keeping the 2.7 serviced as you have will continue it's longevvity!

http://www.fix27engine.com/ This is essential if you are going to pay over $1500 to replace chains and pump be sure to use a stop block to prevent tensioner unloading damage to your renovated engine, which was designed for >300K miles!
