The fuel pump fuse keep on blowing

Asked by Carlo Jun 15, 2014 at 07:54 PM about the 2001 Chrysler Sebring LX Coupe FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My died while driving. I was told that it was the fuel pump. The fuel pump was changed an the problem was/is still there. Checked all the fuses and the 30A fuse, it was not good. Changed/replace the fuse, same problem. Changed/replace again, same problem.
Can anybody tell me why the 30A fuse is blowing?

Check wiring. Sounds like yours is shorted out to frame some where.

On the fuse in question if it's the #8 fuse that runs your Fuel pump, starter and transmission. Pull all 3 relays that are right in line net to that fuse. Put them back in 1 at a time. fuel pump first. the try to start the car. (obviously it won't start.) then check the fuse. if it's fine it's not your fuel pump. then the transmission control relay. and again start and check the fuse. again if the fuse is fine it's not your transmission control. then do the same for the starter relay. My bet is on the starter relay. if it blows again email me and i'll try to help you through the issue. this happened to me, it was not a short or bad starter or fuel pump. the starter just had too much of a load on it. cdaigle1975@gmail.com

If you have electric starter that's probably problem . My 20amp fuse blows every week it is the starter\fuel fuse.I'm going to best buy to see .I'll let you'll know. Also because my car 2002 Sebring convertible limited locked me out because of alarm I asked Google and got in.
