can you use synthetic oil in 2006 grand cherokee with 5.7 litre engine?

I changed oil in my 2006 v-8 5.7 litre engine and used synthetic oil and special filter and now the check engine symbol is on.

Changing from regular to synthetic should not cause engine light to come on,unless you used a thinner grade oil,have the code,s pulled to no the real issue.

You can change to synthetic oil anytime, just make sure you follow the manufacturers recommendations on viscosity.

Did you reset the oil service interval warning when you changed the oil ?
