The transmission in my 2004 Cadillac SRX, V8, slipped once. Screen said, "Idle engine, transmission hot." It hasn't done it since ... tranny mechanic couldn't find a problem. What is it?

its the start of the demise of the auto industry as we know it, 04 and newer ,more and more are plagued with the worst engineering one has ever seen , the cars need reprogramed as though they were thrown out from factory without a proof of function , its a new car, you'll do their work waiting for reprograming by , who knows the tech and equipment , and more glitches possible , look at the recalls as of late, horrendous simply put
Bring to any good Lube shop and get the transmission flushed. It will clean out and replace the fluid and is relatively cheap. It is likely a sensor going but that sensor may have a small amount of debris or worn clutch material on it. A flush doesn't hurt. The V8 transmission is pretty robust. I have seen a lot of shifting problems with the solenoids fixed with a flush. The overheat temp warning is a false warning unless you are in the desert parked.
