will my car jump start if the starter is bad

just want to know if my stater could be bad i was told that my car would not take take a
jump if the stater is bad is that true

thanks so if i replace mt battery do you think that the problem

If a starter is bad as in , drawing too many amps, a jump start might supply sufficient amperage to indeed start the car. If the starter has an open circuit or the solenoid or bendix is bad a jump start will do nothing.
