I have a 2006 Dodge charger RT Hemi, it recently was over heating. It cut off recently and would not start back up. The mechanic tells me the engine needs replacement. Is this my last alternative,???

There is a crack in the radiator and the
number 6 and 7 cylinder aren't firing up,
there was some rust from water under the
hood on the passenger front side, and it
over heated with smoke coming out 1day
before cutting off. The mechanic who I
really don't trust, did a diagnostic test to
find out problem, a "pressure system check
on the radiator" that's how he found the
crack. So all im asking is that a cracked
radiator, on a dodge hemi, means new
engine??

No matter what, I always get a second opinion before spending that kind of money. This may be a little too late but in the future, it doesn't hurt to monitor the temp from time to time. Mt 06 has a temp gauge as well as an actual temp reading on my dash. I check it just to see how hot the car is running because I have heard that the Hemis do run hot. Sorry to hear about your situation.
I have a 2006 Dodge Charger R/T 5.7 hemi and it's overheating. We replaced the radiator, and the water pump. Not sure what it could be? Anyone?

Did you replace the thermostat? Easy to do.
I have a question if I cracked my radiator and I got a new one and also replaced my thermostat but the next day after replacing my thermostat I drove it and parked it for a few minutes and came out and it wouldn't start back up please help me and fyi my uncle put some stop leak in the radiator before the thermostat was replaced please help I have a 2006 Dodge Charger 2.7L V6
I Had a 06 blazer thar overheated, then would not start afterwards I could not figure it out, auto store had no idea..so I sold it and 2 days later saw my friend driving around. He said it was the ignition module...7 dollar fix. So when I had the same exact problem with my 04 Monte Carlo it heated up, started smoking. Then wouldn't start. Changed the ignition module and it started immediately. Ended up having to do the water pump on that one but the nip start issue was the module. Hot water creates steam, steam gets under the distributor cap and fouls the module. I'd try a $10 part be for replacing the engine.
