can i use a 2x4 transmission? how does the manufacturer date comes into
play? i found a transmission manuf. date 06/03.

If you have a 4X4 you must use a 4X4 transmission. If you have a Front Wheel Drive you must use a Front Wheel Drive Transmission, if you have a AWD you must use a AWD transmission. As far as matching, the transmission you need to get must have the same numbers as the stock unit. If the stock transmission is not totally destroyed you might be better off getting it rebuilt.
