Shift Selector Lights and FueL Gauge Erratic

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2005 Magnum SXT 3.5L. Recently the shift selector lights below the tach started to dim, then go out completely, then they can remain bright for extended periods of time. What could cause this. At the same time I noticed that my fuel gauge reads incorrectly, not sure if always or erratically. Might be the 2 are related or not. Cluster test shows the cluster is working properly...any ideas?
Thank You

transmission range sensor sends a signal to the power train control module which sends a signal to the cluster. All through data lines, computer to computer, sounds like there is an issue with the cluster to me.
