i have a 1985 BMW M3 and i just use regular unleaded
I have a 1990 325i but i had a 318i and the manual says at least 91, where i live it's only 89 and 93 so i use the premium.
but bulk up your tranny then use regular and add some meth injection and your runnin high octane
how did you have an 1985 M3 they didn't make the m3 till 88
The m10 motor will run just fine on regular. If you have a tired motor with lots of carbon deposits you may need to run a higher octane to keep from knocking. IF you have any knock on regular you should run so seafaom through the motor to clean it out, then regular will work just fine.
hey i have a 84 318i with m10 motor and i run nothing but premium in mine otherwise my cars pings pretty bad.
you actually incorrect they didnt produce the M3 in the US until 86 but its imported from germany in its first year of production in germany. you can tell this from the absence of stickers inside the door which is standard on american cars.
common mistake. what makes my M3 special is that it is all Dinan high performance down to the exaught and i just put Bosch Spark plugs in it. its in the shop now cause i blew the head gasket at the local raceway park
I have the same car 4 cylinder right? great car even at 220 thousand miles, it runs best on premium.
I run 91 octane fuel in my 85' BMW 318 and it runs excellent! If I run anything lower than that, I get pinging. Maybe that's because my timing is off?

most beamers are high compression engines 10:1 and up so I wouldn't use anything under 93 octane in my opinion, it isn't that much more expensive
