Rev limiter starts at 4K after changing timing belt.

Asked by Jimmy Feb 22, 2017 at 12:06 PM about the 2005 Dodge Stratus SXT Coupe FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Timing belt lost some teeth on the way to work one morning. Replaced the
timing belt and set the timing. Car starts and idles fine. But now check
engine light is on and the rev limiter kicks in at around 4K. I let of the gas
and the car shifts and acts normal until I go above 4K again. Probably a
stupid question, but does the Computer need to be reset? And if so will
disconnecting the battery do it?

Not sure on that disconnecting the battery but you should scan the vehicle for trouble codes to see why the check engine light is on. Then with the scanner you can reset the code. But it will only come back on again until the problem is fixed.
