Air Conditioning Delay: My A/C only turns on after 15-20 minutes.

Asked by Tony Jun 23, 2014 at 03:06 PM about the 2008 Honda Accord EX-L V6 with Nav

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My A/C only turns on after 15-20 minutes. The fan speed seems fine, but the cooling only kicks in after 15 to 20 minutes. At that time, there is a slight hissing noise and the air coming out is suddenly cold (not a gradual increase). Is this an electrical (magnetic clutch) problem? Seems like it isn't mechanical, given the circumstances...  PLEASE HELP!! I LIVE IN TX AND SUMMER IS HERE!!!!  :0

. With engine running check that A/C compressor clutch is engaged . Try the different vent controls. It could also be a sticking damper door in the duck work The hissing sound could be the air passing through the closed door.

It turns out it is a corroded plug on the compressor. I used electrical contact cleaner from the auto parts store . just unplug and spray both ends real good plug back in, problem solved!!!
