1965 170 6 cyl mustang

Asked by go2hale Nov 10, 2018 at 05:28 PM about the 1965 Ford Mustang Convertible RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My Mustang will start, however after warming up it the carburetor floods when I coast to a stop. I have replaced the carburetor twice with new however this continues to happen. The  car originally had a three speed transmission but it was replaced with an automatic if that makes a difference.

This is the second brand new carburetor that I have installed, with the same results. The transmission was changed to an automatic from the stock 3 speed, but I don't think that is the problem. I can hear gas bubbling inside the car when I roll up to a stop, and it sputters and dies if I don't pump the gas peddle while I roll up to a stop sign, or while rolling down a hill.
