2004 Dodge Stratus SXT 2.4L wrong engine????
Asked by Frank Aug 19, 2018 at 10:29 AM about the 2004 Dodge Stratus SXT Coupe FWD
Question type: Maintenance & Repair
My daughter bought a used stratus and now it has
a engine starting issue.
She narrowed it down to a sensor issue, but when
she tried to find it on the motor it's not where it's
supposed to be.
We Googled the year make model and engine and
the picture that came up is the exact opposite to
how it's set up under her hood.
I checked all the vins that I could find and they all
match.
Is it possible that its a Canadian car brought to the
USA for resale? Any help would be appreciated.

that model looks exactly the same as mine. it is the 2.4L DOHC, 4 cylinder, correct? Is she looking for sensor placement or starter placement?

That a sohc I have this exact car an dealing with the same issue says camshaft position sensor is out or bad connection, I can't seem to find anything I've changed the sensor. Along with fuel injectors, starter coils/spark plugs, fuel pump, new battery, please if you've fixed the issue let me know what it took.
Crack in the intake manifold causing a vacuum leak remove it and weld it

The engine is a Mitsubishi engine. anytime you try to find something about the 2.4l SOHC, you need to look for Mitsubishi Eclipse or Outlander 4G64, if its a crank sensor, it is on the front side of the engine facing that radiator. You could also have a bad coil, did you connect a scanner to it? This link should help you out. https://easyautodiagnostics.com/mitsubishi/2.4L/ignition-coil-and-crank-sensor-tests-1
