my 04 dodge stratus has the check engine light on and it gives a fault code that does not exist the only problem i can tell it has is that the speedometer turns off occasionally and says no bus anybod

Electircal nightmare. sound like the instrument cluster is losing communication with the CAN network. could be the cluster. could be the wires. could be a connection issue. could be some other stupid module chryslers usually that communicates with the cluster which is pretty much all of them. It is a mess when it comes to things like this get rid of it!

It is likely the sensor button on your driver side door is worn. Locate the button on the door ... take a penny and a square of masking tape and place it on the inside of the door at the contact point of the button. Most times it is just a worn contact.
