2012 Chevrolet Equinox Sunroof problem.

Asked by Forlund Feb 02, 2018 at 10:59 AM about the 2012 Chevrolet Equinox LS FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

We noticed water in the car after it had rained really hard for a few days so I
checked the sunroof. It was in the vent position. We never use the sunroof in
the venting position so it surprised me.  If you push the button that is supposed
to vent the sunroof nothing happens,  this also surprised me because it worked
before when I was exploring the car and toying with things. If you push the
button that causes the roof to slide open it works for opening the glass, but
when you try to close it using the same button it closes, then keeps going and
opens to vent. I believe that's why it was open during the rain. The open button
will open the glass, but won't close it, it causes the glass to go to the closed
position then continues on to the venting position. The vent button does
nothing anymore.

I played with it a bit more and have some details to add. When pushing the open switch (not the vent switch) the roof only opens halfway. If you push the open switch hard enough to make the roof move automatically, if you push the vent switch while the roof is in motion it will interrupt the motion. Pushing the vent switch any other time does nothing.
