Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Just got a 2012 Rav4 (from deceased sister) took 7 months to get it
shipped from Midwest. After driving it a total of 15 miles over 2 days,
only to DMV and to get it smogged, On the 3rd morning we started the
vehicle and all of the warning lights came on: the engine check light, the
4Wd light, the trac off light etc.....  We took it to a mechanic and now we
have heard this about an over full tank and an overflow tank caused it
and it's gonna cost me $1,000 bucks.
We had never heard of this before and Are concerned about getting
ripped off.
Can you help us?

I think you are confusing 'overFLOW tank, the coolant, the radiator is boiling to overpressure and forcing coolant in to overflow tank...not over full gas tank. You can over fill a gas tank but it will go in to the EVAP and saturate the charcoal cannister, two different things. No, there is no aux tank for gas to go in to

Sounds fishy. Have code for check engine light read. Then post it back on here. We can help you figure out what it's doing. Most auto zones will do for free. (Check codes)
