RAV4 warning lights

Ok, who 'reads' these codes?
Did you end up getting it checked? What was the issue? This just happened to me today. All same 3 lights.

I hope this helps everyone dealing with this RAV4 mystery ... All 3 lights presented on my panel yesterday so I drove the car to the dealer. Dealer ran diagnostics and brought the following codes: P2401, P2402, P2419, P0456, P043F, P043E. Quoted nearly $2k for parts and repairs!!! I immediately began researching - best site is RAV4world.com I discovered that for the last 20 years Toyota has been selling us vehicles with faulty emission systems with a TSB (technical service bulletin) but no recall. Dealers are making a small fortune charging for anything from O2 sensors to a new emission system - and guess what? There's more! After investing all that $$$$ the lights may still come on at any time. My 2009 RAV4 has 32,000 miles on it and is paid off. I had intended to keep this car until the wheels fall off. Research your problem thoroughly! I became familiar with the following website
My lights also come on periodically. The shop told me it was a faulty wheel sensor which they replaced. It still comes on from time to time but it tends to reset itself after about 24 hours. Always seems to come on after long trips over rough roads.
Sorry, I meant to say I agree with Mrs. Maverick, after a lot of time and money the lights still come on.

Alice - it depends on which icons are lighting up on your instrument panel. In my case I had 3 - CEL, 4WD, and Trac. Toyota dealer diagnosed EVAP System failure - dealer quoted 2k to repair but after much discussion they contacted Toyota and got a goodwill repair for me. I paid them $300 for labor only to replace the Evaporative Emission system. But I only have 32,000 mi on my RAV & that's why Toyota gave me the parts. So ask for a print out of the codes that come from the diagnostic test and then research them on the forums for your car or google your car & the codes. In my case I needed a smog test by the end of November for lic plates and my car had to be repaired or it would have failed emission testing.
I had the SAME three lights come on my 2011 Rav4 dashboard yesterday ( 7-31-2018) Called my mechanic and he said it's probably my GAS CAP. I went and tightened it and they went off after about three trips/starting and stopping the car in my normal driving. He said it would take a few trips as the system doesn't monitor those lights often. Also said as long as they aren't flashing, its okay to keep driving. HTH
I called Toyota factory service 800 331 433, for the same trouble lights coming on & off as no ted in the comments above. Guess what they have no record of any such problem. For mutable trouble lights to come on & and off at the same time does not sound like a sensor?? I think that Toyota either doesn't know what the problem is or they are flat out ignoring it
I agree as well. Luckily, I have worked extensively enough on pre-computer cars/trucks and know enough that if a indicator failure code is denoting major failures at <60 or 65k, without outright deliberate abuse, MY bullshit detector (or alternatively LEMON detector) is set to "whoop whoop whoop!" My tires, brand new, expertly filled throw off a bad pressure reading. It gets cleared, tires rechecked, the light flashes as I leave the parking lot. Do-over, and the light returns immediately over and over again. My RAV4 with low mileage throws a "timing belt is off" error OR "catalytic converter problem" OR "intake manifold" needs replacing but we can't tell you which it is! gee, sorry! (and at 60k?! I have already against my better judgment replaced a timing belt sensor and a failed water pump at 60k. gee, thanks, Toyota, wanna buy this ridiculously expensive 1 owner lemon vehicle back from me?). I can't go through emissions (last time, this time and the time before) because I have all these faulty indicator lights on, so I have to pay a couple hundred each time to say it can't be fixed under (emission threshold amount). Why? In my opinion, and many others, because the computerized diagnostic systems are likely: ridiculously oversensitive, written to cause failure codes with a ridiculous %age of false positives, written with no specificty in diagnosis (i.e., let's try this $2000 solution followed by this $2000 solution, ad nauseum until your vehicle, maybe, runs as it should have at this low mileage without having to attend to fraudulent behavior on the part of the manufacturer--this after a 2 day session with the "experts" at Toyota. I will NOT be buying another Toyota. The days of the 300k mile Toyota are long gone.
have a 2006 RAV4 and it has the same issues as noted above. No matter what we do to get it fixed and spend all sorts of money on the problem the VSC, check engine" and "Traction Control" ETC, warning lights come on It's a real shame Toyota Corp has never done anything to fix this fault and it really make me question weather I will ever buy another Toyota. I know I have spent over $3000.00 in various repairs. The lights usually come right back on within a couple miles after I leave Toyota.
Exactly, Steve. Absolutely fraudulent. I failed to mention the Toyota dealership I went to (under advisement of the mechanic who thought they would be better at diagnosing it [what a laugh!]) also told me my battery would not hold a charge even after they replaced the alternator (forgot to mention that one!) and at that point, I said "fine, I'll do that myself, thank you very much." It's been over 2 years, and that battery is still working fine. I guess that would make them liars or wholly incompetent.
Here is a fix that worked first time. Problem: Check Light+Trac OFF light+ 4WD light. ( also poor gas mileage. ) What did NOT work: Gas Cap clean and tighten, Resetting the codes, Traction reset. What DID work: Went to O'Reilly auto Parts they hooked up OBD2 reader for free. Confirmed codes were P0037, P0057, P0051,P0031 which called out 02 sensors. P0102 was the MASS AIR FLOW Sensor. He advised me that its unlikely all the 02 sensors are bad, so fix the Mass Air Flow sensor first. He said Its probably sending bad information making the 02 sensors seem defective. Here's the FIX: He sold me a can of " MASS AIR FLOW SENSOR Cleaner" for $10. (see Photo). He pointed out the Mass Air Flow Sensor. I Removed it with 2 screws, I followed the cleaning directions on the spray can exactly. Reinstalled. Instead of waiting for the car to reset the codes I went ahead and reset them. ( any OBD2 reader will do that or I'm sure O'Reily would do that for you too). PROBLEM FIXED. 2 days and counting no reoccurring. . I really appreciate O'Reily Auto parts for their above average customer assistance.
I want to add the Mass Air Flow sensor looked spotless. I cleaned it anyway. Also my car is a 2012 Rav4 V6 Limited.
Like Steve, I had the VSC, check engine" and "Traction Control" lights come on today on my 2007 Rav4. It's in the single digits here today, could the cold cause these to come on??
I too have this 3 indicator light come on when it gets cold. The kind guys at my Midas reset it for me,but comes back on within a day. There is nothing wrong with the car, unless Toyota built it wrong. The lights seem to go off on their own when it warms back up. Midas gave me codes for emission thing that could be replaced, Toyota dealer would not replace it without doing their own expensive code check first. I think there is nothing big enough wrong with my car to spend that kind of money, so I just let it go. Toyota says there has been no recall on this and there obviously should be.

I have a 2012 Rav4 Base V6. I was driving in Edmonton just now and after a slightly bump on the road these 3 lights came on: Check Engine + Traction Control + 4WD. I tried checking the gas cap and the hoses under the hood, everything seems normal. I bought the car last week after taking it to a mechanic for a pre-purchase inspection. I plan to take the car back to the mechanic shop and have them check the OBD readings on the car and see what they recommend.
When the cleanliness the cleanliness Mass Flow Sensor ,like most sensors,is right on the thereshold between clean and dirty, cold, bumps, humitity can make it fail intermittent . Because of my the permanent success of using the “mass Flow Sensor Cleaner” as directed, its worth reemphasizing the success of this fix. It’s been a couple of months and with NO codes what’s so ever. Try it. It’s a $10 fix. My sensor looked clean but it was not. A few sprays, a coded reset and no more problem.
I'm having a similar issue. half my dashboards light have come on randomly when i drive. After restarting the car a few times it stopped doing but my deep dive light now is constantly flashing. Not sure why but it wont go away.
I had a similar issue with a 2007 RAV4. All those lights would come on, mechanic would clear the code, it would work for a while, then repeat, etc etc. The code had to do with a small leak in the evap system. I did the "replace the gas cap" routine. Seemed to help for a while, but then back to square 1. One day I was filling my car at a gas station and a shade tree mechanic was doing the same. We got to talking, and he had a scanner, so he hooked it up. His advice? Don't overfill the gas tank. On up and down roads, gas can slosh into a container that has a sensor in it, and it triggers the sensor. Obviously I don't have a clue what I'm talking about because I'm not using the correct names for things, but by golly that was the end of my problem. I live in Costa Rica and tell every gas station attendant, "When the nozzle shuts off, don't put in any more gas." This won't be everyone's solution, but it cost me nothing and did the trick.

Absolutely correct. My RAV has such low miles for a 2009 that the service manager did me a solid and billed Toyota for the issue. I know I truly lucked out on that one. Thx for the follow up btw.
Mine is a 2009 rave4. It did it to. Same lights. Drove it ,come home it sat. And noticed lights on.
I did as suggested above and bought a bottle of mass flow cleaner spray, removed the sensor, sprayed the crap out of it, let it dry and reinstalled. Problem GONE!!! Took me 10 minutes (most of that was drying time) and under $10. I didn't even have to reset anything! Everything else you guys did was a major ripoff on the part of Toyota. 2012 Rav4 Owner here.
For me, it was the wiring harness in the steering wheel , ugh

For me, I unplugged mass air flow sensor and simply plugged it back in. All warning lights are now off.
