Asked by mapone11 Aug 30, 2021 at 11:59 AM about the 2012 Kia Soul Base

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The key broke off the fob.  Is there a way to open the fob to replace the pin or to
move the electronics to an empty fob?  It costs $250 to replace the key and fob.

Your key can be opened with a flat tip screw driver on the side, because it has a CR2032 battery in it. E-bay has new key fobs for 20-30 dollars, but you must get the key recut.

you can buy one on E-bay for 20 dollars and carry it to either a lock smith to cut the grooves in the key, or the dealership
