battery warning light

Question type: Maintenance & Repair
The battery warning light comes on after about 30 seconds after I start my truck. Just replaced the alternator and still the same thing. A guy at the auto parts store said to check the ring around the negative battery cable. Not sure how to do that and where I can get a replacement.

You might need another alternator. Drive back over and have it tested. Some remanufactured ones are faulty out of the box. By ring I assume I assume he meant the felt pad for the battery terminal that is installed to prevent corrosion?
The alternator is checks out ok. The ring is a plastic ring that goes around the negative battery cable and has a 3 wire terminal plugged in to it.
Is the generator rebuilt or brand new? Rebuilders have a tough time rebuilding ford generators, correctly. It may charge just fine, but, there may be a lite on the dash. If you go to ford dealership and buy brand new generator, will it fix your problem? I don't know? Granted, rebuilt generator doesn't cost as much. I am as cost conscience as the next person.
