How do I replace rod bearings on my 2002 dodge Durango 4.7 4x4 without taking the engine all the way out

If the rod bearings are bad, chances are it hurt the same rod journal. If it did hurt the journal, the crank will have to be pulled and reground. That will require an engine pull and trans removal. But, you could do the rod bearings with the motor in the truck if you don't mind the drips. Also, the crank will still be attached to the ttc though and even if you unbolt it, will there be enough room to remove the crank to install the new bearings? You could do it with a couple helpers.

Appreciate your help it sounds like it would be easier to buy a rebuilt motor then it would be to replace the rod bearings. Looks like a beautiful car is going to the junkyard. Thanks for your resoponse
