Car won’t turn off auxiliary power
Asked by IrritatedOregonian Jul 26, 2018 at 06:53 PM about the 2013 Mazda CX-5 Grand Touring AWD
Question type: Maintenance & Repair
When I park my car and proceed to turn my car off, my
engine turns off, but auxiliary power stays on. I have to
restart my car, put it in drive or reverse, let car move just a
bit and then put back in park. If my car roles a bit after
putting in park then it will usually turn off. This method is
getting less and less reliable. WTF Mazda?

That's interesting because I have a 2018 CX5 and the battery went dead yesterday. Had to call AAA. None of us could figure out why the battery went dead, there was nothing left on in the car, but maybe it was the Auxillary power that was still on? Very frustrating!! Now, my trunk hatch will not operate at all. I had to make an appointment at the dealership. Not a happy camper!
Shifter switch. Rip off the rubber and put a blob of epoxy. Works like a charm.
Where is the switch? I have the same problem on 2014 CX- 5 grand Touring.
I am having the same issue!
9/30/2020, I have the same issue with Mazda CX5 2015 with the engine will turn off, but radio and power button still on. I have been trying all the solution mentioned from this blog, but today it won't work. It looks like problem is only happening for this type of car. I don't think I will ever get another Mazda.

My Mazda CX5 had the same issue. Got new battery, triple A, took to a mechanic, took to dealer. 3 times. Paid a locksmith. Each time the dealer wanted 180 to look at it. Called Mazda, they said take it to another dealer. Im thinking about smashing it in public. I will let people hit it with a bat for 5 dollars. This has wasted a week of my life and lots of money. This should have been a recall. Greed Greed Greed. The gear shift level leaves the Aux power one in a hidden state.
