Why doesnt my radio turn off when I turn off the ignition?

Asked by Kevmazda May 26, 2017 at 03:13 PM about the 2014 Mazda CX-5 Touring AWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Why doesn't my radio turn off when I turn off the ignition? When this happens, I have to turn the car back on, shift the gear into drive, then back into park to completely shut it off.

Some cars leave the radio on for a certain amount of time and then shut it off. Some leave the radio on until a door is opened. Can you turn the radio off manually?

Ok I just had this happen in a manual transmission. My suggestion is watch what you have plugged into the 12v point in the console. I usually always have my phone plugged in and have never had an issue, today I was trying to charge my bluetooth headphones for the gym when it played up. The moment I unplugged it everything returned to normal. I tried my phone again as well and didn't have the issue.
