Run a new wire to the fuse box or battery. Install a 20 amp fuse near the source of power.

It was designed from the factory to shut off fro a reason. Junk in the power port could start your car on fire (coins can cause the socket to overheat and warm up enough to start paper scraps on fire before blowing the fuse). Go to your local auto parts store and pick up an aftermarket power port, locate inside the vehicle to were it is convenient to you, then connect it to your fuse block. Most after market add-on power ports come with a built in fuse block.
