No heat! Winter is here! Help!

Asked by CelticMom Dec 18, 2015 at 11:24 PM about the 2000 Dodge Caravan FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The old girl has over 265,000 on her. She is not blowing hot air into the car.
Fan works, fuses and relays are fine. I put on a new radiator cap, checked
and topped off the radiator fluid, checked the hoses, no leaks. Turn switch
on dash to hot, no heat. Thermostat is fine, temp gauge reads normal. Did
the calibration and while it was going through the motions, at one point I
can feel heat come out so I don't think its the heater core as it is still
producing hot air. But then it goes back to cold. Continues to blow cold air.
Thoughts please?

the temperature adjustment knob probably went bad, or the deflector that switch cold air to hot air is stuck. changing the temperature adjustment switch is not to hard, the deflector on the other hand vary from one car to the other, some might take hours.

Need to see if both heater hoses are getting hot, and a possible Variable Restrictor Valve may be plugged, or the blend door actuator may be bad.
