timing belt replaced and is still off by one notch..

My timing belt on 98 dodge neon dohc was replaced it is still one notch
off ....how to fix.

Tske it all apart and find top dead cente on the compression stroke , you need to line up the marks correctly....it's a pain

I've read that some should have the motor turned by hand a few times after installing it to make sure it is aligned right .
After replacing a timing belt the engine should be turned over by hand, 2 revolutions in the direction that the engine normally turns. This allows the belt to fully seat in the cogs and the tensioner to tension the belt. Then you recheck the timing marks before reassembly. Do NOT turn the engine backwards or the belt may jump timing.
