Should newly turned brake rotors have ridges from the lathe?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I'm old school so maybe I'm not in the know
anymore ...
Toyota just put front brake pads on my 2013
Corolla S. They turned the rotors too. I held one of
the rotors and felt random ridges when running my
finger nail over it. When asked if this was normal,
the tech said yes. The ridges were from the lathe.
My experience has always been that the rotors
needed to be glass smooth & mirror finished. Am I
old school or is the tech just dismissing the
situation?
