My car wouldnt move

Asked by Guru5L167 Jan 14, 2018 at 12:08 PM about the 2013 Volkswagen Jetta SE

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I was driving home from work about 20 mins
everything was fine then I stop at a stop sign. When
it was my turn to go I took my foot off the break and
my car wouldnt move. The battery light was on, and
im not positive but i think the steering wheel
wouldnt move if thats relevant. It felt like i was
parked. I turned off the engine and restarted my car.
The battery light was off and it was fine after that.
This has never happened and I havent driven it
since then. I have a feeling this isnt going to be a
one time incident. Any idea what the problem might
be???

The jettas have a fuse box under the hood which also runs all the main wireing harnesses on the drivers side of the vehicle. The fuse box can some times go bad mostly from being bad batchs. Try doing this first tho. Go under the hood and take the battery terminals off the battery and clean both the terminals and the battery posts. next from there trace all the wires and remove the bolts from the grounds and clean them then put them back on. next go to your fuse box and clean all the main power leads going into the fuse box and if you can lift it and check for any signs of burning damage to be sure its not physically damaged. while your at it change any fuses that may be burned out. use a type of electrical grease on the terminals as well to keep them from corroding again. Hopefully that should keep the issue from repeating. just pop back if it shows up again.
