How can I test the fuel pump in a 1996 dodge dakota

Best way to check the fuel pump is with a fuel pump/fuel pressure gauge. You can get a cheap one at Harbor Freight and check the pressure at the schrader valve on the fuel rail. The valve is on the fuel rail on the driver's side of the engine down below the TB and it has a cap on it like a tire valve stem. With the truck running and the gauge connected, you should have 47.2 to 51.2 psi at idle
