I have a 4 wheel drive 2003 ford escape but when i got it back it will go into 2 low gear but wont go into 1st low gear is it possible they put a 2 wheel drive tranny in it???

i just tryed it , and it will go into the 2nd low
gear but wont go into 1 low gear. So it dont
have nothing but drive and then 1 low gear.
Could they have put a 2 wheel drive tranny in
it..
