small leak from front lef of transmission pan

Asked by Phil Aug 06, 2017 at 09:13 PM about the 1994 Dodge Dakota SLT Club Cab RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have had my 1994 Dodge Dakota SLT 2WD truck in 4 times with supposedly the best transmission guys in this area.  Took the truck in for a transmission service and it was leaking a bit when I took it in.  They did the service, replaced a check valve & the shifter shaft seal initially.  Have taken the truck back in 4 times now and the last time they said the pan needed to be straightened.  Did that and still the pan is leaking a very small amount of fluid.  Is there anything we're missing or is there some sort of technical bulletin on this problem? They can't seem to get it fixed.  I'm desperate! I have to take a trip across the US in 3 weeks and I don't want to do it with a leak in the tranny.  If anyone has any ideas I could sure use them now.  It's definitely coming somewhere in the pan, no evidence of fluid anywhere above it.

If you can get an aftermarket cast aluminum pan they come with O rings and they are virtually leak proof. Your transmission will thank you.
