I am having some problems with my ford escape 2003 v6 3.0 liters I saw smoke coming from under the hood and my oil gauge was going on and off what could be the problem

Thanks for your reply Tom and DSRR I have check the oil level its ok I have resolved the leakage and put a new oil pressure sensor but the problem has not been resolved the oil lamp is still flickering and times and the engine is using up all the coolant is getting very hot and starts steaming but the cooling gauge is not showing that the engine is hot only the oil pressure gauge is flickering I am out of probable cause now I really don`t know what is wrong with the engine
