With that vintage, I'd check for codes, Check for Vacuum leaks, clean the Throttle Body, clean the IAC, disconnect the battery for 5 minutes. Start the engine and run at 2500 RPM for 3 full minutes. Allow it to idle for 3 minutes. Allow it to idle with the AC and Headlights on for 3 minutes. Go for a drive.
