My 92 dodge dakota will not turn over when I turn the key.

Question type: Maintenance & Repair
All gauges and lights work. It has a new battery. Had the starter tested and it shows good. Changed the ignition switch and key lock cylinder. Changed the neutral safety switch also. Switched the relay and still nothing. This is just baffling.

Maybe the pcm is fried!
what exactly is it doing when you turn the key to start?
Nothing. No clicking. Just silence. All the nstrument gauges and lights will turn on, except the fuel gauge. Headlights and radio work also.
check the relay for the starter on your relay box or the cable that goes to the starter relay.
Split the wire harness (remove the taped cover) that comes out of the fuse box under the hood, theres a brown wire that comes out from the firewall & connects to another brown wire that goes to the starter relay & then down to the starter. The 3 are connected where the wireing harness comes toghther as a Y near the fuse box. The 3 brown wires are connected there, the connection is rotted, strip the wires & splice them together, it should start with the key.
mine turned out to be a white wire that connects to a red one that splices to the battery /starter. Thank you for taking the time to post this Jstraw.
I bought a truck that you had to use a screw driver and a push botton to start went to the junk yard got a used one. Put it on and now no dash light's come on or anything. Its a 1996 dodge dakota
Got the same problem, except I have a black wire and 2 gray wires that aren't attached to anything and I can't find a loose end to attach them to
Hey guys, first I want to say thank you for the info on this post, I was having the same issue with the truck not turning over and it turned out to be rotted starter relay wires under the fuse box. But not my alternator isn't charging the battery with is a new issue. Was wondering if you guys had the same problem and if you have any advice on where to start. The alt is putting out voltage but the battery isn't seeing any of it. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
