1986 Buick Lesabre

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 1986 Buick LeSabre and it was
running fine and a noise came from the belt
and than the heat and air conditioner
stopped working. Than the car shut off and
the belt was off , now we put it back on and
the car won't start. We put gas in it but it
won't turn over. What do you think can be
causing this?

I don't know if you failed to tell the complete story, but here are some possibilities. The noise could have been either the a/c compressor or the harmonic balencer. Either one could make noise and cause the belt to come off...... The next mystery is how long you drove the car with the belt off......sounds like you drove it until it quit, if that is the case check with the salvage yard to see what they will give you for it so you will know how much you have to spend on a replacement.car.
