Airbag error warning on my 2013 VW Beetle convertible

I left the top down on my convertible and it poured rain on the inside. When I went to start the car everything worked but the airbag light came on and an error message about the airbag came on the instrument screen. I assume the rain soaked sensor may have shorted out. What I have found on line is that it will have to be reset at the dealer. Is there any danger of it deploying pryer to getting it to the dealer? I did drive it home about 26 miles with the light on and nothing happened but I'm concerned as my wife has to use the car in two days and I don't want anything to happen to her while driving the car.

Thanks Tom! I was worried it might go off unexpectedly injurying a passenger. I assume the dealer can reset the light.
