I Want to do some mods to my 300 6 any ideas
Asked by Dylan Nov 09, 2015 at 11:35 PM about the 1986 Ford F-150 XL Standard Cab 4WD LB
Question type: General
I'm planning on doing an overhaul on
this mighty beast and although I have
never built an inline before (only
302's,351w's and 350's) I am just
looking for some ideas on mild mods
while it is out of the truck I have
already got all the parts for the
overhaul as well as an exhaust header
, a 2bbl intake and a mild can kit from
comp cams, keep in mind this is a 4x4
I'm not looking to go fast but I would
like to pull a house out of the ground
lol.

Well, sounds like you already have the parts you need- you have a 2bbl carb too? so cool- in the '50s people used to hot rod the 6 cylinders and man, they got some serious power outta those things- sounds like you already have a source for parts I would just suggest taking extra care doing the engine work, don't cut any corners, you could even have the engine balanced by someone good- shop around and you can find someone to do the head really trick-
Jegs makes a kit that comes with everything the header the intake gaskets and even a small holley 4bbl, I have really been doing "my homework" with this one just the sheer durability of the engine is what got me hooked in the 1st place
Depends on how much You want to spend. Go online and find a Offenhauser parts dealer and start from there.
After researching the 300 six I have found that I can use a ford 240 head to put the squeeze to the block but now trying to find a 240 for the head is different story I also found that the 300 has a 4in bore and a 3.98 in stroke
