My 89 f250 has a new distributor cap an coil
an it wont do anything even before we put
the two new things on it wouldn't. Its not
firing it jumps spark had my buddy take the
wire from the coil an hold it to a ground it
only fires maybe once every 10 time an
when it does it, it jump fires anyone might
be able to help me it's got the 4.9 in it

Don't know what you mean jump fires. But first check to see if the distributor gear is still locked in by taking the cap off and try turning the rotor. If the rotor turns then the pin in the distributor shaft has sheared & needs replacing. Then after checking that and it is ok, then pull out the Ignition Control Module, and the coil, then take them to Auto Zone to be tested.

Faulty distributor hall effect pickup?? faulty wiring from distributor to ECM assuming its EFI. If it is point ignition then take wifes fingernail file(paper one) and file contacts.
