Check engine light

Asked by MKS1213 Dec 25, 2018 at 04:30 PM about the 2014 Lincoln MKS AWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2014 Lincoln MKS the check engine light will come on for a day or
two and then go off for several days.  I had the code check and it say that it is
an oxygen sensor but it never stays on more than a day.  Could something
else becausing the light to come on.  The car does not have a gas cap its one
of the new models without one.  Just looking for some advance before taking
it into the shop.

If you are using the 87 octane gas start using the 92 or 93 octane gas had same problem took a little time but check engine light went out if you are in a hurry for it to go out try using a converter cleaner like cataclean read some good and bad but mostly positive to get check engine light to go out.

I'm having the same problem. My check engine comes on for about 4 days then goes off for two or three days and repeat it all over again. My car is a Lincoln 2014 MKZ. Must be something faulty with the Lincolns.

It’s a Ford thing, my F150 does it also if I buy gas somewhere besides Shell or BP

I had the same issue with my 2015 Lincoln Mkz. They changed the airflow sensor, the check engine light came back several times and then they changed the catalyst converter about 3 weeks ago. Today the check engine light came back on again Code P013 faulty oxygen sensor again. I will try different gasoline and see what happens.

No need to change gas just use the higher octane gas once light is off you can start using the low octane gas again just do not use all the time switch back and forth between the middle octane gas and low octane gas.
