Timing Belt

Question type: Maintenance & Repair
Does my 2013 WRX have a belt or a chain? If a belt, should I tell them pulleys as well as water pump? What else?
If I want to have them install a Stage 1 kit at the same time, will this be too much for an engine with 100K miles on it?

It has a chain. http://www.cars101.com/subaru/impreza/impreza2013.html
I went and read up on Stage 1 kits @ http://www.scoobytuner.com/tuning/?tuningID=33 ..and can see no harm. Unless you live in Calif, it's 'tampering' and will never pass smog. For the other 49 knock yerself out

The reason I asked about the pulleys and the water pump is that I did not know to ask the dealer to replace them when he did the belt on my 2004 WRX at 100K miles. It lasted only 12K miles when the pulley died and took out the new belt. Since I was 160 miles away from the dealer, I had a local mechanic fix everything (it worked fine for the next 70K miles) but the original dealer refused to stand behind it stating that according to Subaru the pulleys and water pump need not be replaced. Frustrated, I called Subaru. They sent me a check for $500. The dealers are great but I think the customer needs to know what to ask for and be firm. Ps. I traded my 2004 with 172K miles for a 2013 Special Edition. A month later Subaru offered a $500 incentive to buy a car in the next 2 months. I called and asked for the incentive (expecting nothing, I had nothing to lose). They sent me a credit slip for $250 if spent at the dealer. A great company.
