The main problem with installing a junkyard 4R70W transmission is that you absolutely have to tear it down and inspect everything before you install it in the vehicle cause otherwise you’re going to have repeat the removal of the transmission shortly after. The 2000 Ford Police Interceptor uses a smaller torque converter and an inch longer tail shaft extension housing. If you’re getting electrical codes for that junkyard transmission, you need to pull the pan off and inspect the hard molded lead frame or internal harness that is responsible for carrying or sending voltage and current to operate the TCC (Torque Converter Clutch Solenoid), EPC (Electronic Pressure Control Solenoid), and Transmission Fluid Temperature Sensor. If the previous owner was that lazy enough to not tear down, inspect and rebuild the Tranny, I wouldn’t have bought the car from him in the first place. If water got inside the case somehow through the dipstick tube hole and god knows where the transmission was stored away, then you’re screwed since rust will develop and the water soluble clutch packs and band friction material will rip off the layers of steel they are adhered onto.
