Emission system. If you have over filled the fuel tank, fuel may have poored through the vapor fume hose into the charcoal canister. That will cause the hoses to gunk up, or the canister selinoid, the purge selinoid, or the egr valve to clog or stick

I have a 06 crown vic with same problems. I put too much gas in tank and the fuel poured into the charcoal/vapor canistor. The canister and selinoids are not made for liquid fuel and it will cause the whole system to overtime act up and go out. Detach the canister and use air compressor to clean out. Search the proper way to clean out charcoal canister or the selinoid
