Why won't my car start?

Asked by Randall711 Oct 03, 2024 at 05:19 PM about the 2007 Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

About 2 or 3 months ago I was leaving for work when I
got in my car to go to work it wouldn't start, only
making a clicking sound. Thinking it was the starter I
changed it, but still only the clicking sound. Thinking it
may be another bad battery went and had it tested, and
I saw the screen showing 100% healthy. Now it's not
doing anything, and yes now the battery may be dead,
but it's still not starting after changing the starter. Any
help in trying to figure what it could be would be
appreciated

If it's making a rapid clicking sound that means you have voltage or grounding issues. If it makes one loud click that means you either have a bad starter or the engine is locked up.

There may be a voltage drop from battery to starter when you turn the key , Remove the plugs and see if the motor turns by hand

Most likely a bad battery cable connection. Check your battery cables at both ends and make sure everything is clean and tight. Put Vaseline on the battery posts and cable ends that clamp on the battery. They'll never corrode again. Jim
