'07 P71 are there oil monitoring sensors that will start screaming error codes if I run heavier oil tha 5w-20?

Asked by Terry Feb 16, 2017 at 12:15 AM about the 2007 Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The engine does not seem to have blow-by or use oil but the bottom end sounds a little loose on cold starts until the oil pressure comes up. 123K and 2700 idling hours.

The timing chain adjusters may be making the noise. The 4.6 engine calls for 5w20 oil so I don;'t understand why you want a thicker oil. Make sure you use a quality oil filter such as Motorcraft. These filters have a silicon anti-drainback valve that helps keep the oil in the filter when the engine is not running.
