Towing capacity of a dealer installed hitch depends on which hitch was installed and that hitch's overall specifications. Towing limits for the vehicle overall may limit the towing capacity of the hitch. The hitch towing capacity and the vehicle towing capacity are different specifications.

Thank you all. However, all answers I have heard before. I do not see a sticker on the hitch. I had the same as factory hitch installed. So I assume the hitch can handle up to 7400 lbs(v-8 RWD). But I do not have the factory tow package. Which is a requirement to get to the 6200lbs(v-6 AWD) from my understanding. Tow package includes a tranny cooler, larger radiator, tow button, full size spare etc. The dealer told me 5000lbs is what the hitch can handle but I have read elsewhere 3500 and 2000 is the max the durango can handle without tow package. I just don't want to blow out the tranny the first time I tow a trailer...I don't think I will get close to 5000 but I might get close to 4000. I have tired to contact another dealer but they haven't gotten back to me yet.
