14 Buick lacrosse

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

How do you take apart the driver outside
mirror/turn signal?  I'm trying to replace the led
turn signal bar on the exterior mirror. I've found
how to take the whole assembly  off the car. But
what I need to know is how to take the assembly
apart in order to change just the light bar.

They probably never intended you to replace the LED turn signal. I suspect the only thing that Buick carries in the parts department is the entire mirror.

They carry the part 79.00 on gm warehouse parts. I like to know to take the mirror apart myself.

You have to start by carefully removing the glass mirror by prying all edges... maybe buy a dozen broken mirrors to practice on first! Then usually start prying the bottom inner corner of the trim ring working your way around till it snaps off. With any luck that does break or lose any if the retainer clips, but if you have practiced you should have plenty of spare parts! Then depending on model their will be 2 - 6 #10 star style screws holding the light in... https://youtu.be/Fp47IfJ92wk
