Car won’t start at all

Asked by Andrew Aug 15, 2024 at 03:03 AM about the 2014 Buick LaCrosse Leather FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

So in this Texas heat I had started the car to get the
ac running before going to work but after 2 min my
car started to shake coming from the engine. It turned
off and I was confused so started it again. Turned off
tried to start it and just got 1 click . Sounded like a
dead battery or starter . I replaced the starter and still
nothing . I am lost . Battery is a year old and not sure .
I checked the fuses and don’t see anything burnt or
popped. Just an engine light on

Install the memory saver tool into the OBD2 port, have the battery tested, if it tests good then have it recharged and reinstall into the vehicle, then see if it starts, if it does then run a charging system voltage check, it should read around 14.2 volts at idle, if it doesn't read that then the alternator is not working and the vehicle is only running on the battery, when the battery gets too low the engine will die and won't crank over.
