car cuts off while driving or stopped. It will then turn back on.

Asked by GuruJP9FP Aug 05, 2020 at 10:18 PM about the 2014 Volkswagen Passat Wolfsburg Edition

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My car shuts off while driving or stopped. Most times it will
start right back up or I have to wait a few minutes. I have
taken it to a shop. The cam sensor has been changed as
well as a new fuel pump. The pump did have a crack so the
mechanic said the pump could be it but also could not
guarantee it. There are no codes popping up and no check
engine light. The alternator is good. It does not happen all
the time. My car guy doesn't want me to spend endless
money that I don't have. Is there any luck with this??? Any
advice would be helpful!!!

I am literally having the same exact problem. Did you ever find the issue?

Mine just started cutting out while driving, but not every drive. I can't tell if it does it as I start to let off the throttle or if it doesn't care. I think mine is electrical as it will cut out and start back up just as quickly as it turned off. All the electrical will reset, which leads me to believe it may be ignition electrical related. 1996 tdi Passat
