Help.. metal peices in fluid off tranfer case in chevy

Truck started making a
clicking noise when driving.. i
went to check fluid to my
suprise there was no fluid in
the tranfer case or any in the
other plug on the tranfer
case.
There was tiny about 1/4 inch
cylinder metal peices about 5
of them come out . The
transfer case is leaking fluid
out above the "skid plate?".
Do i need a new transfer
case? Or how to fix this? Any
help greatly appreciated
