2014 RAV4 only 28K miles stalled. No problems until now. I was driving slowly thru a parking lot and it just died. On the way home it shuddered a few times. This was when I was just coasting, not giving it gas. I took it to the dealership and after checking it out, including a test drive, hooking up to computer, etc, they could not find anything wrong. Nothing showed up on the computer at all. Now I am scared to death to drive it! I've used the same gas, it was almost a full tank. Also there has been a smell of gas inside the car when I get into it. They checked the fuel system, injector system and all that. Nothing. Any more ideas?

Take it to another Toyota Dealer. Intermittent problems are a real pain in the tuckus. Your best bet is to convince them to give you a loaner car so that they can keep yours for a while to check out.

Thanks. A problem like this is not only a pain, but dangerous! Reading thru other questions, I've found similar issues but with older Toyota's. One solution to those problems was "a missing screw that keeps contacts together" (doesn't say where the contacts are...maybe battery?) the other solution was "a defect with the battery ground cable". Wouldn't that show up when the battery was tested though? We have had 7 Toyota's in the past 16 years and this is the first time having a major issue. I'm driving my husbands Highlander now. Too scared to drive the RAV. Letting him do it. lol Hoping to get more possible solutions on here.

Hope you have been able to follow "full of regrets' advice and have another dealer check your problem. His advice mirrors what mine would be. A car this new is still under warranty, so the fix has to be theirs- including a rental ( at least at my California dealership) if they have to keep it over. Don't let it slide. It's too important to do that.

A battery test would not show up any bad battery cables. The load test is just the battery.
